Hi, this is Audrey.
I'm going to tell you a fun art project that I learned at Idyllwild Arts. It is a messy project, called batik, from a island called Java. You should wear old clothes you can ruin!
So what you do, is get a piece of plain white fabric. Then you draw, in very light crayon, whatever design you want to do. Then you paint with hot, melted wax on the lines and on any other area you don't want dyed.
Next, you dye the fabric. Use permanent dyes. You can either paint on different colors of dye, or dip it all in one color. Hang or lay out the wet fabric to dry. Once it is dry, you can put a piece of paper over the dried fabric and iron the wax out.
And there you go!!!
an idea for your batik:
you can sew it into a bag or something .
thanks and stay tuned for more .
P.S. if you have any questions you can contact audrey carver or just leave a comment and i'll answer. bye!
