Hi!
Since this is the summer, I thought you guys might like to have a recipe for something cold and nice to drink - an icy milk shake!
directions
1) Get one cup of milk.
2) Add one tablespoon of sugar
3) Add a few drops of vanilla extract.
4) Add Ice cream. I would recommend vanilla or chocolate.
5) Put the mix into a bag that can be closed tightly.
6) Fill up a bigger bag with ice, I would recommend 5 pieces, bur it's okay if you only have 3 or 4 - the ice cream will make it pretty cold.
7) Put the mix you made into the bag with ice, and close both bags tightly.
8) This is the part that needs some of your energy. Shake the bag with the other bag inside of it for 5 minutes. This part I would recommend doing outside because both backs might leak, maybe because you did not close it tightly enough, maybe because the ice made a hole in either bag.
After you are done with shaking, take out the small bag, pour it into a cup, and ENJOY!
Tip:
If you want it to be fruity, when you are making the mix, put fruit in the milk.

Here are some fun quotes every kid should know!
"God made dirt and dirt don't hurt."
"Every kid should be dirty - if he or she isn't, that's just wrong."
ha ha.
hope these can help you convince your parents that being dirty is OK.

Hi, this is Audrey.
I'm going to tell you a fun art project that I learned at Idyllwild Arts. It is a messy project, called batik, from a island called Java. You should wear old clothes you can ruin!
So what you do, is get a piece of plain white fabric. Then you draw, in very light crayon, whatever design you want to do. Then you paint with hot, melted wax on the lines and on any other area you don't want dyed.
Next, you dye the fabric. Use permanent dyes. You can either paint on different colors of dye, or dip it all in one color. Hang or lay out the wet fabric to dry. Once it is dry, you can put a piece of paper over the dried fabric and iron the wax out.
And there you go!!!
an idea for your batik:
you can sew it into a bag or something .
thanks and stay tuned for more .
P.S. if you have any questions you can contact audrey carver or just leave a comment and i'll answer. bye!

News
Hi!
Last night, Audrey and Zora went on a fishing trip. They caught 9 fish and kept 8, because one was too small. We used Audrey's dad's boat, and we fished at lake Hemet.
Anyway, here is a fun writing exercise:
Make a family newspaper!
Microsoft word is the best way to type it up on, but you can use something else, too.
First, the name. I chose Schoner-Yardas family prophet for my newspaper, my dad's last name is Yardas, my mom kept her last name Schoner. (My brother got my dad's last name, I got my mom's.)
For the name, I would recommend doing it something that has to do with your family, as your family is probably going to be the ones reading for it. For example, if your last name is Smith, here are a few ideas:
Smith Family Times
Smith Prophet
Smith Family: Tell all
Next, you want the headline news. Go around, see what might be something very important in your family. Whether a pet dying, mom burning a dish, your brother breaking a glass, a family picnic, a new pet, or Cleanup day in the family: what Dad thinks of it, Your family is sure to like the head line. For the headline, you want it to be catchy, like "No!" Dad says, in response to "Please do the dishes." You want your lettering to maybe have a different color, like a bright red, or a blue. For your paragraph however, make it have smaller writing, it will make the headline more noticeable.
Next, you want your paragraph a few lines under your headline, so it doesn't appear squished.
Example:
Is she going to quit Dance?
Lately, Sally has not been liking dance. One of the girls is showing off, she doesn't like the dance, and the music is bad. She has been in dance for a long time, though, and she is still not sure if she wants to quit, because she likes her teacher so much, and she finds some parts of dance very enjoyable.
See, the paragraph should be longer, but that is the kind of interesting sentence you want in a paragraph.
What else to have in your newspaper:
1) One or two short interviews with topics like "Cleanup day in the family: What dad thinks of it"
or "Why Elizabeth wants to remodel her room".
2) Have a joke of the week. You can pick it up from anyone in your family, at school, or at the mall, etc.
3) Put in little coupons, like "foot massage: Available till July 15" or "looking for time to relax, mom or dad? Lisa will do the dishes 4 you!"
4) Put in a quiz, with questions that have to do with your family like, "On which day of the week was Simone born?"
Hope these work!

Bullying
Hi!
This is Zora.
Just thought you would like some tips on bullying.
The first thing is to act like you don't care, act not mad, not sad, not nie to the bully, just normal with them!
1) Try not to get affected by the bullies, and definitely DONT show them they affected you, that only makes them worse. I think that's what grownups mean when they say "Ignore them" because I know it is SO hard to ignore them.
2)Roll your eyes a little bit, it is a sign you don't care.
3) The bully is probably acting because they are having a hard life, so unless you really feel you must defend yourself, or even embarrass them, don't insult them.
4) Trust your friends. No matter who they are, if they like you, they will do something to defend you.
Hope these help!

Fun Tips and a picture
Firstly, to the left is a picture of Zora, the writer of this paragraph. Today, I am going to give you some tips.
Firstly, writing.
As I have been writing since I was little, I have lots of experience. Here are some tips for writing books, narratives, and essays:
Books:
Depends if it is fiction or non fiction.
Fiction:
Normally fiction books have magic in them, or something that has never happened. For example, the book I am writing now (Audrey is illustrating it.) has a time machine.
In all stories, I would recommend already knowing what is going to happen, the main characters, and some of the most important parts ready in your mind. In a narrative, I often write things that have happened in my life. That doesn't mean you have to stick straight to the story. You can over exaggerate. It just makes things more exciting. For example, in one of my narratives, I put in, "And my friend was shaking with fear." Now, my friend at the moment was not shaking with fear, she was just scared. That means that it just shows strongly how the person feels.
Non fiction:
Science is usually good for non fiction. In non fiction, you usually want to stick straight to the facts, because you don't want to over exaggerate in science.
Realistic fiction:
For realistic fiction, I would recommend using something with characters that act like normal people, and dogs that don't talk, because, well... dogs don't talk in real life, do they? And you want to get as closest to real life as possible with realistic fiction.
Anyway, I have to go!
I hope the tips help. Look down to see the dictionary!
Dictionary:
non fiction: A story that is true.
fiction: A story that is make believe.
realistic fiction: Something that is not true but could have happened, and in most cases someone has a similar story to it.

The meaning of this blog
Hi!!!
Welcome to A2Z idykids blog. We are local kids that live in Idyllwild, and thought kids might want a blog to look at for everything. Here are a few reasons why we wanted to make this blog:
1) We think kids should be more educated about global warming and the economy.
2) We have been disturbed about how mean kids can be to other kids, and thought we might give some advice on that, as we have experienced this kind of thing and we KNOW it can be hard.
3) We think kids should have some fun, easy, and short (usually) art projects and cooking recipes.
We also thought it might be nice for kids to have something to look at over the internet they can never get tired of.
Stay tuned for more!
